Refusing to report is a federal felony punishable by up to 5 years in prison and a $250,000 fine. During Vietnam, about 570,000 men were classified as draft offenders.
How do you become a conscientious objector?
You must demonstrate sincere moral, ethical, or religious opposition to all war (not just this war). Apply through Selective Service, provide evidence, and attend a hearing.
